Service Description
Sgraffito is an ancient mark-making technique beloved by ceramic artists — scratch through a layer of coloured underglaze to reveal the clay beneath, creating bold, expressive line work with real depth and contrast. In this session, your plate is already made and leather hard, ready to decorate. You will apply underglaze, then use carving tools to draw directly into the surface — your design, your lines, your vision. This is a class for people who love to draw, pattern-make, or explore mark-making in a new medium. This class is part of the Breakfast Set series alongside the Slab Mug and Wheel-Thrown Bowl — book one or book all three to make a complete set. All materials, tools, and firing included. Your finished piece will be ready to collect within 3 weeks.

Cancellation Policy
At The Potters' Roost, we keep our class sizes small to ensure everyone receives quality guidance and enough space to create. Because we are a social enterprise, every booking directly supports our community programs. 1. Course & Workshop Cancellations 7 Days or More Notice: We offer a full refund (minus a $15 admin fee) or a rebooking for a future course. 48 Hours to 7 Days Notice: We offer a 50% refund or a rebooking. Less than 48 Hours Notice: No refunds or credits can be issued, as it is difficult to fill your spot at such short notice. However, you are welcome to send a friend in your place! Missed classed and no-shows cannot be refunded. 2. "Catch-Up" Sessions (For 6-Week Courses) We understand that life happens—illness, family, or work can get in the way. We do offer formal "make-up" classes with a tutor, once a month on a Thursday evening to catch-up on what you missed. 3. If We Cancel In the rare event that we have to cancel a class due to tutor illness or low enrolment, you will be offered a full refund or a priority transfer to the next available date.
