In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of slab construction to create a custom clay tea caddy designed to keep your favourite loose leaves fresh and airtight. This class is tailored for beginners looking to dive into hand building basics and the art of making well-fitting lids for storage jars. We are delighted to welcome back Carol Fox, the founder of Upper Hutt’s own Foxy Tea Shop, to make this a truly tea-themed afternoon. Carol will share her passion for loose leaf tea, how she makes her blends, and pour samples of her small-batch, organic teas while you work. You can also browse her on-site pop-up shop during the class to buy your favourite teas directly from her. What You Will Learn & Do: Slab Construction: Roll, cut, and join clay slabs into a durable, functional jar body. Lid Fitting: Measure and craft a tailored lid to create a secure closure. Surface Texturing: Personalize your storage jar using stamps, carving tools, or textures. Step-by-Step Guidance: Clear, structured instructions provided throughout the process. Tea Tasting: Sip premium organic blends while you work. What is Included: All clay, tools, glazes, and firing services. Complimentary tea tastings from Foxy Tea Shop, plus a retail selection available for purchase. Your finished, food-safe ceramic tea caddy (available for pickup in 3-4 weeks after firing).

Cancellation Policy
At The Potters' Roost, we keep our class sizes small to ensure everyone receives quality guidance and enough space to create. Because we are a social enterprise, every booking directly supports our community programs. 1. Course & Workshop Cancellations 7 Days or More Notice: We offer a full refund (minus a $15 admin fee) or a rebooking for a future course. 48 Hours to 7 Days Notice: We offer a 50% refund or a rebooking. Less than 48 Hours Notice: No refunds or credits can be issued, as it is difficult to fill your spot at such short notice. However, you are welcome to send a friend in your place! Missed classed and no-shows cannot be refunded. 2. "Catch-Up" Sessions (For 6-Week Courses) We understand that life happens—illness, family, or work can get in the way. We do offer formal "make-up" classes with a tutor, once a month on a Thursday evening to catch-up on what you missed. 3. If We Cancel In the rare event that we have to cancel a class due to tutor illness or low enrolment, you will be offered a full refund or a priority transfer to the next available date.
