Pottery Studio Membership in Upper Hutt

Ready for more time with clay?

Studio membership at The Potters’ Roost is designed for people who already have some pottery experience and want regular access to a calm, well-equipped studio where they can keep creating independently.

This is not just a place to use a wheel. It is a supportive creative home for makers who want freedom, consistency, community and room to grow. Memberships are application-based so we can keep the studio safe, respectful and enjoyable for everyone.

The Wix membership screenshot shows the intended positioning: memberships are for people who want more than a place to play with clay — they are for people seeking a supportive creative space, with application via form and an induction process.

Who Membership Is For

Membership may be right for you if:

  • You have completed a pottery course or have previous clay experience

Why Membership Is Application-Based

A pottery studio works best when everyone respects the space, the tools and each other.

Our membership application process helps us understand your experience level, what support you may need and whether membership is the right next step for you. It also helps protect the calm, generous studio culture we are building at The Roost.

Once your application is received, we will review it and contact you with the next step.

Studio Induction

Before using the studio independently, members may need to attend an induction session.

Your induction will cover:

  • Studio etiquette

  • Equipment use

  • Cleaning expectations

  • Clay storage

  • Glazing areas

  • Kiln and firing process

  • Health and safety

  • How to use the space respectfully and confidently

If you have already completed a course with Sabrina at The Potters’ Roost, you may not need to attend a full induction.

Purposeful Making

Your membership does more than give you studio access.

A portion of every subscription helps fund the Phoenix Program, providing subsidised creative mental wellbeing classes for local people in need.

That means your personal creative practice helps support someone else’s chance to begin again.
